01What to send

The WhatsApp messages clinics send, and what each costs

Meta prices each message by its category. US rates shown, effective 1 October 2026; every country's rate is on the pricing pages.

Meta decides a template's category when it reviews it; a message written as an update but containing an offer is billed as marketing.

02Turn these on first

Three WhatsApp workflows that save the front desk hours

  1. 1

    Reminder the day before

Your booking software calls Mywa's API or webhook for each appointment; Mywa sends the reminder template with Confirm and Reschedule buttons.

  2. 2

    Tap to reschedule

A patient who taps Reschedule triggers an automation that tags the chat and assigns it to the front desk, who offer new times in the inbox.

  3. 3

    Enquiries answered as a team

Questions about timings, fees or directions go to one inbox shared by up to 5 staff, with notes and assignment, instead of one receptionist's phone.

03What it costs

A clinic sending 1,800 reminders and report notices, a 2,000-patient recall campaign and 1,500 replies a month, at Meta's rates effective 1 October 2026, with 1,000 free replies.

04Patient privacy

What to send, and what to keep off WhatsApp

Health information is protected by law in most countries, such as HIPAA in the US and GDPR in the EU and UK. Mywa doesn't decide what's allowed for your practice; check your local rules and your own policies before sending anything clinical.

Many clinics keep WhatsApp to logistics: reminders, booking changes, “your report is ready, collect it at reception or log in to the portal”, and general questions, with results and diagnoses shared through their own secure systems.

  • 1

Get the patient's consent to WhatsApp messages, and record it.

  • 2

Send only what the patient needs to act on: time, place, what to bring.

  • 3

Use Mywa's role-based access so only the right staff see patient chats.

  • 4

Meta's Commerce Policy restricts promoting prescription drugs and some health products on WhatsApp.

They're utility messages at Meta's rate for the patient's country: $0.0034 in the US and Canada, $0.022 in the UK and $0.0157 in the UAE, effective 1 October 2026. Mywa adds no fee per message.

Yes, if your booking software can call a webhook or an API: it sends Mywa the patient and appointment, and Mywa sends the reminder template. Mywa doesn't have ready-made connectors for specific clinic systems.

That depends on your practice, what you send and your agreements, not only on the tool. Mywa doesn't claim HIPAA compliance. Many practices use WhatsApp only for reminders and logistics; check with your compliance adviser.

Yes. Templates can include quick-reply buttons such as Confirm and Reschedule; Mywa automations can react to each button, for example tagging the chat or assigning it to the front desk.
