01The basics

What is the WhatsApp Business API?

The WhatsApp Business API — officially the WhatsApp Business Platform — is Meta's interface for medium and large businesses to message customers on WhatsApp at scale. Unlike the free WhatsApp Business app, which runs on one phone, the API has no user interface of its own: it is used through software like Mywa that connects to Meta's Cloud API.

That connection is what unlocks the things a phone can't do: many team members answering from one number, messages sent to thousands of opted-in customers, automatic replies, integrations with your store or CRM, and delivery analytics for every message.

  • 1

Messages go through Meta's official Cloud API — no unofficial tools, no risk of the bans that come with them.

  • 2

Your number stays yours. it is registered to your own WhatsApp Business Account, not to Mywa.

  • 3

Customers see your business name and profile, exactly as they would on the app.

02App vs API

The app is great for a single owner replying from a phone. The API is built for teams, volume and automation.

03What you get with Mywa

Everything the API makes possible — and what it means for you

One plan includes all of it: no tiers, no per-seat pricing, no add-ons.

01 / 06

One shared inbox for the whole team

Every WhatsApp chat lands in one inbox. Assign conversations, leave internal notes and control what each agent can see.

Your advantage: No customer waits because 'the person with the phone' is busy or on leave — and you never lose chat history when someone moves on.

02 / 06

Campaigns to thousands, tracked to the last tick

Send approved templates to opted-in contact lists now, on a schedule or on repeat, with sent, delivered, read and replied counts.

Your advantage: Reach every customer in one afternoon instead of forwarding messages one by one — and see exactly which campaigns bring replies.

03 / 06

Automations that answer while you sleep

Reply to ad leads instantly, ask qualifying questions, route chats and follow up — with quiet hours and per-contact caps built in.

Your advantage: Leads get an answer in seconds, even at midnight, so fewer of the people you paid to reach with ads go cold.

04 / 06

WhatsApp calls, answered by the team

Take and place WhatsApp voice calls in the browser. Incoming calls ring every available agent; the first to answer takes it.

Your advantage: Customers who'd rather talk reach you on the number they already chat with — no separate phone line to manage.

05 / 06

Connected to the tools you already use

Shopify order and abandoned-cart events, new leads written to Google Sheets, outbound webhooks and a REST API.

Your advantage: Order updates and cart reminders go out on their own, and your team stops copying numbers between apps.

06 / 06

Flat fee, zero markup

₹999/month for the software. Messages are billed by Meta directly at its official rates.

Your advantage: Your costs stay predictable as your team and volume grow — you never pay a margin on every message.

05Getting started

How to get the WhatsApp Business API with Mywa

Most businesses are sending their first message the same day.

  1. 1

    Create your Mywa workspace

Sign up with your email or Google account and choose the monthly or annual plan.

  2. 2

    Connect your number through Meta

Meta's Embedded Signup opens inside Mywa. Log in with Facebook, pick or create your WhatsApp Business Account and verify your number with a code. You can use a new number, or keep your existing WhatsApp Business app number with coexistence.

  3. 3

    Create and submit templates

Business-initiated messages must use templates approved by Meta. Build them in Mywa — approval usually arrives within minutes to a few hours.

  4. 4

    Import contacts and go live

Upload a CSV of customers who have opted in, invite your team, and send your first campaign or turn on an automation.

06Pricing

How much does the WhatsApp Business API cost?

There are two separate costs. The first is the software you use to access the API — with Mywa that is a flat ₹999/month or ₹9,999/year (+18% GST), with every feature and unlimited team members included.

The second is what Meta charges for messaging. Meta bills per delivered message, at a rate that depends on the category (marketing, utility or authentication) and the customer's country — in India, ₹0.8631 per marketing message and ₹0.115 per utility or authentication message (before GST, from 1 January 2026).

From 1 October 2026, Meta also charges for service messages — the replies you send inside the 24-hour window — at the utility rate, and utility templates sent inside that window are no longer free. Conversations that start from a click-to-WhatsApp ad still get a 72-hour window of free messages.

Mywa adds zero markup: Meta's charges are billed by Meta at its published rates, never through us. Many providers resell messages at a margin, so compare the total cost — software plus messaging — when you choose a platform.

07Know the rules

WhatsApp Business API rules to know before you start

Meta's policies exist to keep WhatsApp free of spam, and following them keeps your number healthy. Mywa builds these rules into the product, but it helps to understand them:

  • 1

Opt-in first. only message people who have agreed to hear from you on WhatsApp, and honour opt-outs immediately.

  • 2

The 24-hour window. after a customer messages you, you can reply freely for 24 hours. Outside that window, you must use an approved template.

  • 3

Messaging limits. new numbers can start conversations with a limited number of customers per day. The limit rises automatically as you send messages people engage with.

  • 4

Quality rating. if many customers block or report your messages, Meta lowers your number's quality rating and can restrict sending — so relevant, expected messages matter.

  • 5

Business verification. verifying your business with Meta unlocks higher messaging limits and is required for some features.

08FAQ

Frequently asked questions

No. You pay a provider for the software and Meta for each delivered message. With Mywa that's ₹999/month (+18% GST) for the software, plus Meta's official per-message rates with no markup. From 1 October 2026 Meta charges replies at the low utility rate too; messages in the 72-hour window after a click-to-WhatsApp ad stay free.

Yes. If the number is on the WhatsApp Business app, you can connect it with coexistence and keep using the app alongside Mywa — your existing contacts and recent chats are brought in. A number on personal WhatsApp must be converted or removed from WhatsApp first.

You need a Meta Business portfolio and a WhatsApp Business Account, which you create during signup. Verifying your business with Meta is recommended — it raises your messaging limits — and requires documents such as GST or incorporation certificates.

Connecting a number through Meta's Embedded Signup takes a few minutes. Template approval usually takes minutes to a few hours, after which you can start sending.

Numbers get restricted when customers block or report messages they didn't expect. Sending only to opted-in contacts, using relevant templates and honouring opt-outs keeps your quality rating healthy. Mywa uses the official API and includes opt-out handling and per-contact limits for automations.

The verified badge is granted by Meta, not by providers. Businesses can apply through Meta once their business is verified; approval is at Meta's discretion.
